Emergency Management Awareness Month
Behind the Ready
August is National Emergency Management Awareness Month, a recognition led by the International Association of Emergency Managers to help communities better understand the emergency management profession and the people who support disaster preparedness, response, recovery and resilience. Emergency management is often the work that happens behind the scenes long before an emergency begins and continues after the immediate danger has passed. It brings together planning, coordination, public information, training, resources and partnerships to help protect lives and support communities.
This August, the San Bernardino County Office of Emergency Services is pulling back the curtain to highlight the dedicated team members who help carry out this mission every day. Throughout the month, we will share short video spotlights featuring the people behind preparedness and the work they do before, during and after disasters.
